Why Kalahari Melon Oil? Benefits for Dry Skin Repair

Why Kalahari Melon Oil? Benefits for Dry Skin Repair

Fall is here, winter is approaching, and we all know what that means… dry, ashy skin

Our River No. 2 face oil is the best product for dry skin as it is packed with antioxidants, anti-inflammatories, natural moisturizers, vitamins A, B, C, D and E, and more. Not to mention, all of those properties come from natural, plant-based ingredients, including the new addition of Kalahari melon oil.

What is Kalahari Melon Oil?

We’ve recently added Kalahari melon oil to our River No. 2 face oil for its many natural benefits on our skin, especially dry skin.

The oil is extracted from the seeds of the Kalahari melon - not the melon we all know and love, though. This pale yellow/green melon is grown in Southern Africa and has a much more bitter taste. But it’s benefits for your skin are sweet.

The Benefits of Kalahari Melon Oil

So, what’s so great about Kalahari melon oil that we had to update our River No. 2 face oil formula to include it?

  1. Anti-inflammatory: reduces inflammation caused by acne while skin-friendly vitamins soothe.

  2. Cleansing: linolenic acid, an omega-3 fatty acid works to unclog pores and remove excess sebum from your skin’s surface.

  3. Anti-aging: tightening and wrinkle-reducing thanks to antioxidants and vitamins A, C, + E.

    • Preformed vitamin A is a retinoid. Your skin is a retinoid-responsive organ, readily available to absorb vitamin A when applied. Retinol stimulates the production of new skin cells and keeps your skin hydrated.

    • Vitamin C is an antioxidant that may help reverse free radical-induced oxidative damage, thus slowing down signs of skin aging. It may also improve elasticity, stimulate collagen production, and moisturize.

    • Similar to vitamin C, vitamin E is also an antioxidant that may prevent free radical damage and slow signs of aging, help with atopic dermatitis, heal wounds, and treat acne and pressure sores.

  4. Repairing: omega-6 and omega-9 essential fatty acids (EFAs) stimulate skin cell growth to help repair skin damage and scarring. Did you know that these aren’t created in the body naturally? So giving your skin these fatty acids is extra important.
